Toronto Abstract Artist: Courtney Senior

I am a self-taught abstract artist located in Toronto, Canada. Ever since I was a little kid, I would immerse myself in creative activities - from colouring and drawing to painting and writing. Despite my passion for anything creative and colourful, as I got older it took a backseat to other things. However, after experiencing a long bout of anxiety in my early twenties, I made my way back to art. It seemed to be the only thing that would ease my angst and bring my mind back to serenity. As my anxiety subsided and as I pursued my career in marketing, painting was pushed to the sidelines again; that is until my late twenties when I lost my father in a sudden accident and my life was turned upside down. From that moment on, I spent every free minute I had painting. I used it as an opportunity to put all of the emotions I couldn't express verbally into a form that helped my grieve and ultimately helped me heal. Flow state is truly a magical place.

I am also the founder of #ArtandFound, a social movement dedicated to bringing joy and inspiration to communities around the world. #ArtandFound was started in 2015 in Toronto, Canada when I would leave free artworks around the city for people to find. Since then, artists around the world have joined the movement. The first ever International Art and Found Day was March 12th, 2021 and had over 475 artists across 33 countries participating.

I love creating and I love sharing it with people. I want everyone to have access to affordable artwork that makes them feel positive, peaceful and ready to conquer the world. About My Work

Painting is my meditation and my liberty. While I seek comfort in it, I also strive to deliver uplifting, positive and tranquil energy through each piece I create.

My work is primarily abstract acrylic paintings. I am a minimalist when it comes to tools of the trade and create each piece with fluid acrylics and a catalyst wedge. I use color, depth and movement to evoke positive energy through my work.
